High Point Timeline

1971 Egan Barbecuers is started by William Sr. and Grace Egan in Rockville, Md.
1974 Egan Barbecuers caters a steak barbecue for President Gerald Ford.
April 1996 Bob and Christine Egan purchase Egan Barbecuers from William Egan Jr.
1999 Three Brothers, a 150-acre farm in Clarksburg, Md., is purchased and renamed High Point Farm
2005 Team building is added to the farm. It includes high and low ropes courses, GPS course, rock wall and paintball
2006 Express Division added to provide drop-off catering services to companies and schools in Montgomery County
2009 Disaster Services division established to provide catering and complete logistical support to crews dealing with aftermath of natural and man-made disasters
March 2009 Joins Facebook as High Point Catering
2011 Starts to purchase wind power for operational use and to recycle all grease, including cooking grease
April 2011 Bob Egan elected president of the Clarksburg, Md., Greater Chamber of Commerce
April 2011 High Point Catering featured in April issue of Event Solutions magazine in recognition of expertise staging outdoor events
June 2011 Company celebrates 40th anniversary of its founding
Summer 2011 At major catering convention in Las Vegas, Bob Egan and senior staff present major session on staging outdoor events
October 2011 Hosts the first of what will be an Annual High Point BBQ Battle, a fundraiser held in conjunction with Montgomery County Career Firefighters Association and Muscular Dystrophy Association
2012 Team building area at High Point Farm updated and enlarged
October 2012 High Point Farm hosts Germantown Oktoberfest for the first time
February 2013 Commissary warehouse burns to the ground; no one injured but building and contents a total loss. Operations resume within 24 hours at a succession of temporary sites before being moved to High Point Farm
June 2013 Company name changes to High Point Events in recognition of its expanded service
July 2013 High Point becomes exclusive caterer at The Anastasi Room in downtown Bethesda
August 2013 Presence established on social media websites: Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram
September 2013 Team building and recreational area at High Point Farm rechristened The Adventure Sector at High Point
October 2013 New company website, www.highpointevents.com, debuts
March 2014 Named to list of approved caterers at Glen Echo Park, a regional center for the arts and historic site
June 2014 Honored for 2013 charitable contributions to ending hunger in Montgomery County, Md., with a Certificate of Recognition and Appreciation presented by County Executive Isiah Leggett
July 2014 Joined the International Catering Association, “a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education, mentoring and resources for professional caterers and promoting the profession of catering”
